Defined as, "the fact or state of being independent." Synonyms include self-determination. As a Nation, we are ready to take a pause on Thursday and celebrate Independence Day. Our forefathers came together and envisioned a country where we would be able to live freely and independently. What a wonderful vision they had for this United States.

Those we serve have lost their independence and their networks have shrunk because of aging. Interfaith Caregivers strives to help clients regain their independence or self-determination. I love the word self-determination, it gets to the heart of what we all want no matter our age- the right to decide for yourself. As you pause to celebrate Independence Day on Thursday think about what independence not only means for the Nation, for you, but also for those neighbors Interfaith Caregivers serves.
